· The event has been organised by the Spanish National Association of Architectural Concrete Facade Manufacturers (ANfhARQ), which will see the participation of architecture students from Spanish universities and schools.
The FYM-Italcementi Group and ANfhARQ have announced the second architectural competition New Uses of Concrete “Móvil luz inmóvil” [mobile light immobile]. The aim is to acknowledge the most innovative building solutions being applied to concrete.
The event is aimed at students enrolled at Spanish public or private architecture schools or on Erasmus exchanges. It encourages students to research the various uses of mobile and immobile concrete, and to foster the reflection of light on or inside this material.
Projects may be submitted by candidates using a pseudonym before 31 May 2011 to the following address: apartado de correos 16.110, 28005 Madrid, or to the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid ETSAM (Avda. Juan de Herrera nº4). The jury will meet in June and the prizes will be awarded in October at an official ceremony.
Although students will have absolute freedom to present their building solution proposals, project creativity and originality will be highly valued. The first prize is a grant of 1,500 euros, the second of 500 euros, and the third is a camera. Two runner-up prizes will also be awarded.
The jury will be chaired by Luis Maldonado, Director of ETSAM UPM, and will include the following people: Carlos Ferrater, architect and ETSAB professor; Alberto Peñín, architect and ETSAB professor; Marta Maíz, architect and ETSAM UPM professor; Enrique Herrada, architect and ETSAM UPM professor; Carmen Galán, architect and ETSAS professor; and Rafael Jurado, Director of Compliance at the FYM-Italcementi Group.
